A humorous book inspired by a famous English novel
was recently published in Italy

Three friends on a boat, a trip on the Tiber, trying not to repeat the misadventures and blunders described in the book "Three Men in a Boat" by Jerome K. Jerome.
“Gita sul Tevere – Tre uomini su un barcone in compagnia di un cane non proprio di razza di Carmelo Coco (Trip on the Tiber - Three men on a boat and a dog without a pedigree by Carmelo Coco) is the title of the Italian book, 150 pages of fine humor, that can be appreciated by non-Italian speaking readers (such as non-English speaking readers have appreciated the humor of Jerome).
The author wonders and asks the reader: Can you fight the sad heaviness of being with the irresistible lightness of laughter?

One page: Introduction

Some books should contain a disclaimer to warn the reader of their danger. It is, in fact, very dangerous to identify oneself with the characters in some books. One of these books, in the preface of which I find no such warning, is certainly “Three Men in a Boat” by Jerome K. Jerome.
For some time, I (Gerolamo) (1) and two of my friends, Giorgio (2) and Enrico (3), have recognized and identified ourselves with the characters of this book.
As a matter of fact, I'm the one who is the most affected by this disorder. I believe I suffer from all diseases in the world. From A to Z, far exceeding those who ailed Jerome .
Thanks to the discovery of modern diseases, in my personal list of ailments I can also boast of Zygodactyly type 4.
What luck! My thanks to medical progress.
To escape the curse of the book, my friends and I decided to attempt an original and dangerous experiment: take a boat trip on the river Tiber emulating the dangerous trips on the Thames of Jerome, George, Harris and their dog Montmorency.
Here is the chronicle of our adventures and our mishaps.
Our goal is to make it without repeating their mistakes. This is our challenge.
Only this way we will be able to free ourselves from this cursed resemblance.
Perhaps some worthy physician will read our report and will deliver its scientific opinion.
I will be very grateful to him.
I truly believe that our experience will be useful for science.
